Back Door Friends

Back door friends waiting to be let in
A face as familiar as my own
History registered on their faces
A copy of the lines that match mine

Stories told and retold over a lifetime
Same endings just part of the journey
Stories punctuated with laughter
Like an orchestrated symphony

Back door friends take a lifetime
To fit like well-worn jeans
Conversation late into the night
Share lifetimes trials and dreams
