WHERE'S BEAR? by Bro B |
My daughter has a favorite stuffed teddy bear she carries around with her. There is a game we play called "Where's Bear?" Every now and again, she will sit Bear down somewhere and forget about him. If I see Bear all alone, I take him and hide him somewhere. When my daughter realizes Bear is missing, she asks me, "What did you do with him?" I give her clues to find him. Bear has been in the refrigerator, the freezer, in the washing machine, in the dryer, and in the cabinet with his legs sticking out. Once my wife took a picture of Bear and put it in the computer. We told her Bear was in the computer and she could not find a way to get him out. When she finds Bear, she takes him and holds him tight and I get a good scolding from her. We have two rules in this game. Bear can never be torn up, get wet, or get dirty. Rule two, as long as she has him close to her, I cannot touch him.![]() The Bible tells us that nothing can separate us from God's love. As believers, we are in God's hand and no man can pluck us out. There are times though, that we put distance between God and ourselves. We may not pray as much as we used to. We may not spend time in God's Word as much as we used to. We are not as close to God as we once were. That is when sin creeps into our life, and just like Bear, we get away from God and get ourselves into all kinds of trouble that could have been avoided if we had simply stayed close to God in the first place. Remember our rule? Bear can't get torn or wet or dirty? God's rules are different. If you get into sin, you will get dirty. If you drift away from God, He might let you go for a while to teach you a lesson. If you ask for God's forgiveness, He will grant it. If you decide to stay in that sin, He will only let you go so far. As God's child, He may have to chasten you to get your attention. You may even be too busy to spend time with your own family. You know Bear gets in a lot of trouble when he is away from my daughter, but she always welcomes him back. Maybe you have drifted from God, but He still loves you. He is only a prayer away. Stay close to God and take time for him daily. |
